Job Objective

Designs, installs, and evaluates quality assurance process sampling systems, procedures, and statistical techniques; designs or specifies inspection and testing mechanisms and equipment; analyzes production and service limitations and standards.

 Qualifications

1.   BS in Mechanical Engineering or related field with a minimum of 3 years of experience in a related field preferred.  Other equivalent education and relevant experience in a production/firearm facility will be considered. 

2.   ASQ certification (CQE) preferred.  Practical knowledge of Kaizen, Lean, 6S, and continuous improvement tools, or be willing to take formal classes to achieve knowledge or ASQ certification required.

3.   Experience with Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).

4.   Experience with data point technology, Polyworks, Solidworks, CAD/CAM, CNC, CMM programming, PCDMIS, and/or Calypso.

5.   Demonstrated ability to define problems, collect and analyze data, establish facts, and make data driven decisions using formal FRACA (failure, root cause analysis, corrective actions).  

6.   Demonstrated experience utilizing, calibrating, and interpreting the results from a variety of equipment including, but not limited to:  air-gaging, micrometer, calipers, depth and height gages, borescopes, etc. 

7.   Ability to exhibit sound judgment and looks for ways to improve and promote quality while demonstrating accuracy and thoroughness.    

8.   Proven ability to effectively communicate both orally and written with staff, management, vendors, and customers.

4.     Positions and secures work piece in holding device, machine table, chuck, centers, or fixtures.

5.     Moves controls to position tool and work piece in relation to each other, and to set specified feeds, speeds, and depth of cut.

6.     Starts machine, directs coolant or cutting oil flow, and feeds tool to work piece or vice versa, and engages feed.

7.     Observes operation of machine and verifies conformance of machined work piece to specifications.

8.     Operates bench grinder to sharpen tools.

Current schedule is Monday – Thursday, 10 hour shifts (day shift) or Monday - Friday 8 hour shifts (evening shift), however shift schedules may vary and require flexibility as demanded by business requirements and needs.
